The Global Ambassadors of EMU

The EMU Global Ambassadors are a team of international students working under the ESL Program. The team consists of students from various countries who are attending or previously attended the ESL program. Currently all the Global Ambassadors are perusing their degree in different departments at Eastern Michigan University.

​

The Global Ambassador team has opened campus employment opportunity for international students. The team currently has six members from China, Ethiopia, India, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan. The team members share and learn about each cultural and social similarities and differences with each other. They also share and discuss their academic experiences with one another to have a better understanding of their personal perspective and experience in order to be able to provide accurate and helpful information for international students. The team members come together and create informational resources for existing and upcoming international students. The informational resources include cultural, academic and social information about studding in the U.S as an international student from the perspectives of each team member based on their experiences as an international student at Eastern Michigan University.

The team has created various informational resources such as, student experience website, a welcome handbook, digital Newsletter, informational and fun videos. The student experience website provides information like ESL students success stories, resources for important websites for various departments that are useful for international students, information about upcoming events, pictures and videos from various fun and educational events of the ESL program. The welcome handbook includes important information about the visa process, on campus and off campus housing, weather and transportation information, convenient places to go for grocery shopping and places to dine out around Ypsilanti, Michigan. The digital newsletter gives news and updates on ESL events and workshops as well as EMU resources. The team also translates various resources to different languages for international students. As the member of the Global Ambassador team, I had an amazing chance to meet remarkable students from different walks of life. I also had the chance to work with teammates from different countries and culture. This gave me the chance to learn about different cultures as well as share my culture with my fellow teammates. I have learned so much from my teammates and hope to continue learning from them in a very Fun, caring, loving and happy environment.
